My work in this life is learning and teaching Torah (in its broadest definition) by opening heart and mind with song, text, and shared experience. I am a rabbinical student as well as a singer, songwriter, Jewish meditation teacher, cantorial soloist, and sociologist.
I've released four albums of acoustic music (mostly originals peppered with covers of tunes by the likes of Nick Cave, Stan Rogers, Bob Dylan, and The Barenaked Ladies). My first three releases place me in the "singer-songwriter" and/or "folk" categories while the latest, "Open Our Hearts" is an exploration of Jewish chant and liturgical music. You can listen to some of my music on my (very much under re-construction) website: minnabromberg.com
I have served as a cantorial soloist in Jewish communities in Chicago, Baton Rouge, and in my own hometown on Eastern Long Island. I have taught Jewish meditation in most of those places too and am a proud alumna of the Jewish Meditation Teacher Certification Program of Chochmat HaLev, in Berkeley, CA.
I graduated from Simon's Rock College of Bard with my bachelor's degree and did my doctoral work in sociology at Northwestern University. My dissertation was about how interfaith (Jewish-Christian) couples construct identity.
May these pages serving as a useful and playful way of sharing both Wisdom and Joy!
Your questions, comments, and other contributions are most welcome, my dear ones.
